10th GradeMemories and MetaphorTenth grade is the first round of a match. Remembering how badly ninth grade was for me, I resolved to do my work and keep up in class this year. The first class I attended was a new language that I decided to take, Latin. The first day of the class was rather exciting until we learned the basics of Latin like hello, how are you, what's that, and my name is. All the words sounded like I had just got clipped on the ear. I messed up my knee pretty bad while training for a fight and my girlfriend at the time was the biggest help ever. She was in more than a few of my classes and was a life saver. I decided to take oceanography rather than fighting an uphill battle in chemistry this year and part of that class is taking a lot of field trips. My favorite was when we went Kayaking in back bay. My back has never been sorer. I took a couple good shots this year despite the resolution I made, I almost failed English on one occasion, and I did fail Algebra II / Trig, but I managed to keep up with my work.
I knocked out a lot of stories this year. I took a hard hit while reading Things Fall Apart. This novel was a slow and agonizing read. I fought back while reading Lord of the Flies. This is one of my favorite books from high school. Anthem is another novel that I thoroughly enjoyed. English was starting to get easier for me. Increasing my pace, I wrote a lot this year. I wrote a literary analysis perfecting my ability to read my opponent. I created an archetype puppet using my creativity. I was taught how to further my writing by using imagery and diction. My procrastination did not improve this year, it slowed me down and made me take more than a few hard shots. My teacher in the tenth grade was good at teaching but was very angry a lot of the time. She taught me a lot and influenced my writing and reading habits a lot. |
